• The region of Żuławy

The unique region of Żuławy, described around the year 890 by the Anglo-Saxon traveller Wulfstana as 'the land of milk and honey', also called the 'Atlantis of the North', where Green Farm is located, provides unmatched opportunities to spend free time. The farm is located in the village of Krzewsk, in the region of Żuławy Elbląskie, at a distance of 10 km from the lowest point in Poland. At 1,8 m below sea level, it is located on one of the trails of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society (PTTK).

The Green farm lies in the buffer zone of the lake Drużno, the majority of which forms the unique bird reserve of Drużno, protected as part of the programme Natura 2000. It is an area not contaminated by industry, where wildlife is at an arm's reach, and where there are still many places untouched by man. Thanks to the fact that our region is not overexploited by tourism one can enjoy here peace and freedom when being at one with nature, and spend time actively in many ways, learn to know the wildlife thanks to guided trips, meetings with ornithologists and own observations made on walking, horseback or bicycle trips, or even go back in time and learn about the history and culture of the region of Żuławy.

The breathtaking network of channels and waterways constructed by the past inhabitants of these parts, the Hauländer (settlers from the Netherlands, Mennonites) makes this region feel like a mirror image of Holland.

  • Historic monuments

Rich rural wooden and brick architecture had survived, including old Dutch farms and arcade houses, the network of channels and ditches, historic locks and pumping stations. The presence of Prussian settlers in these parts had exerted its influence on the architecture, in the form of typical buildings, brick houses (timber framing). In the vicinity one can see class 0 historical monuments, remains of the Mennonite culture ie : Krzewsk, Markusy, Jezioro, Żurawiec , Raczki Elbląskie .

The location of our Green Farm respective to the tourist attractions of the region of Warmia and Mazury makes it a great vantage point to visit such places as Malbork, Frombork, the Tricity, Stutthof, Lidzbark Warmiński, Święta Lipka, Pasłęk, Olsztyn, Święty Gaj, the Mazury, as well as the Vistula Spit and the route along the lagoon.

  • Fishing

There is access from the Green Farm to the river Balewka flowing out of lake Drużno, where annual fishing tournaments are organised, gathering fishermen from all of Poland. Thanks to interesting types of fish that live here and come here to spawn offspring, the highest purity of water, in which even crayfish live, any experienced or amateur fisherman is bound to find his favourite spot here, any time of the year.

  • Water tourism

Undoubtedly a grand attraction is the option of boat rides along the water trail of the Channel of Elbląg, and down river kayaking along the trail running via lake Drużno and the rivers Dzierzgoń and Balewka.

The Channel of Elbląg: A historic hydrotechnical construction, unique through its location and the sights it offers. It was built in the years 1845-1860 for goods transport. One can find here technical solutions that are unique the world over. Thanks to a system of five inclined planes (Całuny, Jelenie, Oleśnica, Kąty, Buczyniec), ships can traverse the 100 m height difference between lake Drużno and lake Pniewo. Currently the Channel does not play a major economic role, but is a tourist attraction which cannot be found anywhere else. Regular tourist ship traffic runs along the channel and lake Drużno. From these one is able to admire the interesting technology and the wonderful sights. ( ).

Nearby one also has „the Mennonite trail” i „ routes.and the trail around lake Drużno, as well as longer-distance

NOTE: On site there are bicycles, helmets, reflective vests/lifejackets and kayaks for rent.

  • Cross-country skiing

This is a further aspect of active recreation, for the winter this time. Due to the low-lying land forms, the land being in general very flat, in our parts the conditions for ski running are extraordinary, and the shallow delta lake being lake Drużno, which freezes over practically every Winter, brings excellent conditions for ice boating.
